  • Product Description

Peace of mind cooking at home starts with our Smart Choice StoveSentry Cooktop Safety Sensor. The sensor easily mounts under the vent hood or over-the-range microwave to detect when unsafe cooking temperatures are reached. Measuring the temperature and cooking surface, an alert sounds and red LED light flashes for early warning –reacting before a smoke alarm. Perfect for aging in place and newly independent chefs, the StoveSentry Cooktop Safety Sensor provides a warning when stove temperatures may need to be reduced; this serves as a reminder to prevent unattended cooking. Over time, the sensor learns your cooking habits as you acknowledge and disarm the alarm when preparing meals safely. Great for Electric Coil, Electric Smooth and Induction Appliances, not recommended for gas cooking surfaces. Replace battery annually or when alert sounds.

    Seems to work as expected!

    Seems to work as expected!
First off this was much smaller than I anticipated, which Im glad of. (It looked really big, but it isn't). It was super easy to set up. The instructions are fairly clear, but I didn't quite get that there is a base panel that sticks to the vent hood, and the unit attaches to it magnetically. That makes it easier to change the button battery when needed. Be sure you are putting it where you want it because once you stick it, it's stuck! Also be sure you put it in a location that is easy to reach to touch the button to shut off the beeping. So far it's only beeped a couple of times when I've had a hot burner and taken a pan off of it, which is what it's supposed to do. Since I work for a forensic engineering firm, I'm very aware of how many fires start on the stove. I sleep a little better at night now :)
