Customers like the connectivity of the network interface controller adapter. They say it delivers enough Ethernet to exceed WiFi, and handles two connections with 100 MBit speed in both directions at the same time. They also say it's a great way to extend their network, with plenty of bandwidth. Customers are also happy with performance, and ease of setup. However, some customers disagree on quality, speed, plug, signal strength, and value.

Customers like the connectivity of the network interface controller adapter. They mention that it delivers enough Ethernet to exceed WiFi, handles two connections with 100 mbit speed in both directions at the same time, and is a great way to extend their network. It provides plenty of bandwidth, making it easier to expand your WiFi network by plugging in a second router to one of these. The mesh network is good for some basic operations, such as surfing the web, checking email, and keeping track of your finances. However, the adapters have some drawbacks, including the fact that they can't support 5GHz.

Customers are mixed about the speed of the network interface controller adapter. Some mention that the speed was pretty good, the internet connection is very fast, and it has very good latency and stability. However, others say that the connection isn't as fast as the router itself and that they experience lagging issues loading webpages and freezes while viewing.

Customers are mixed about the signal strength of the network interface controller adapter. Some mention that it provides a steady and reliable connection, while others say that it has poor signal and is not a magical fix for bad WiFi.

Customers are mixed about the quality of the network interface controller adapter. Some mention that it's amazingly reliable, well-built, and stable, while others say that it wasn't built to last and started to show intermittent failures after 2 1/2 months. The powerline that i'm using between my house and my office is a bit noisy - this adapter seems to have zero problems with it. Recommended, and it was well worth the money.
The home is a brand new upscale dwelling and most of the time we have amber lights = 50-80Mbps.
Occasionally we get green, but only when I'm the only one here and most of the appliances are turned off (dishwasher etc). But even on amber, it streams movies in HD just fine. Not sure how well a video game would play.
So the set up is easy. The connection is VERY solid. They are a great way to deal with dead spots.
But the speed is not impressive.
Edit
While the speed is seldom great unless you're practically in the same room (less electrical noise I suppose), they are amazingly reliable.
Interesting thing happened. It would not talk to one of the the much OLDER Powerlines on the circuit so I dusted off the old twin and TWO Powerline bases made 15 years apart attached to the router. Had to add yet another one for a medical device (different manufacturer) provided by the medical device manufacturer (for HIPAA). The second IT linked in my router could no longer see my modem and we lost internet!!!
Took a bit of experimentation. Knowing that having two Powerlines acting as a base is irregular, we eventually disconnected the old one, assuming we'd have to upgrade its twin upstairs. Nope. After putting the newest one in the circuit for a few minutes the very old one FINALLY recognized this one, the Netgear 2000 we were using as a base!! Keep in mind, we never touched the elderly twin Netgear Powerline upstairs, we just removed its twin attached to the router and added the new one by some other manufacturer provided by the medical people into the Powerline network via a socket elsewhere in the house! And the oldest one even works now if we remove the medical one! Weird.
FYI Powerline can apparently blind your router to your modem under very specific circumstances. Never did determine why the oldest Powerline couldn't see the 2000 for that year or how the introduction of the other manufacturers Powerline fixed it. Have wondered if they have the ability to update the firmware - something I'm not aware Netware can do - and updated our elderly Powerline. Once it recognized the 2000, something happened to its now superfluous twin. Everything works now and that's all that matters.
Life's never dull with hardware.
I'm quite impressed with these. I ordered some of the smaller adapters NETGEAR Powerline AV 200 Nano Adapter - XAV2101-100PAS at first and just couldn't get a stable connection on my 2 story house throughout all plugs. They did work but would disconnect and had a low bandwidth connection. I thought it might have been the wiring of my house even though it's a 2 year old house and had new copper wiring throughout. Turns out I just needed these instead. When I added the 2GBbs powerlines to my network it seemed to super charge all the smaller ones and it sems to actually work. Now I get a stable ethernet connection in any room that I have an adapter including my garage. I mostly use wifi throughout the house but keep my TV and desktop computers hardwired for a stronger connection. Now I can easily stream in 4k through the hardline and didn't have to go through the costly work of installing ethernet plugs in the rooms that I want to use a hardwired connection. Wifi is the way of the future but will continue to get more interference with more and more signals. These really helped.
Pros:
You don't "lose" an outlet and can still plug whatever device you are supplying ethernet to into the socket.
There are two ports on the bottom with their own unique IP address so you can setup multiple computers/devices
It's much easier to expand your wifi network by plugging in a second router to one of these and then using it as an access point for those areas in your house that have weaker signals
They are very very stable. No disconnects (unless my whole network goes down) and they seem to work on any plug in my house. Even outside.
It's worth mentioning that all Netgear powerline adapters are compatible. So I was able to use these with the smaller ones I mentioned and now those work too. There are a lot of different models for different needs. Some that broadcast a wifi signal, some with multiple outlets, some with multiple ports, and some super compact.
Cons:
The top is somewhat rounded and it does block the ground port on the socket above it.This means that you can't plug in two 3 pronged cords. It seems like if they just made it flat at the top it would fix that since it's just a few millimeters too tall.
For me, the 3 bright LED's are annoying since I like almost total darkness at night. But that is just me. Many people won't be bothered by them at all.
I guess some would say that the overall size of them is an issue and might be an eyesore. I'm not bothered by it though. They look like a tech gadget but know that they are about 6hx3wx2d (in) which means they are about the size of a small brick.
Top reviews from other countries
1A.) Provides a functional internet connection, for internet browsing and video viewing.
2A.) Provides a functional external outlet for another device - e.g. power/surge protector bar.
3A.) Easy to set-up.
nit-picks (not Cons):
1B.) Regardless of which wall outlet it's plugged in, it eliminates a second wall outlet from being used, unless your device doesn't have a ground prong - e.g. a side table/reading lamp with a two-prong plug - then the second/upper outlet is still usable.
2.B) The network connection LED does not light up on the secondary/remote Powerline (when the primary one is ON) unless a device is plugged into the remote Powerline - e.g. a laptop is on and logged in. This isn't really explained in the Quick Start Guide, so initially, I thought it was not working properly. Unless this is due to my set-up, but everything works when it should, internet connection wise.
Final thoughts:
This product has met and exceeded my expectations. Since my internet connection is nowhere near 1Gbps, I have no issues with the connection speed, like other have complained. I cannot comment on the ratings for Wi-Fi signal, Tech Support nor For gaming.
