Can't get Lappy running Vista Basic to 'see' Home Network

I have a new Acer laptop, Black Friday deal, running Vista Basic. I can connect with the Internet but cannot even see the wifi Home Network. This laptop is running Norton's Internet Security. My other laptop and desktop, both XP and Windows Live Onecare, don't have any issues. My router is Netgear and I use DSL. My Daughter is having a fit to use the Network printer.

hum....did you check if you have the right driver? czn i got my HP desktop last year it came with wi-fi but it never worked some how..maybe is something wrong with the driver?

I can connect with the Internet using wifi but cannot find or see the Home Network. To me this is crazy and I want to blame it on Vista .....but I don't know? I have turned Norton's off and still cannot see the network. Crazy.

but the problem is in itunes i get the error" network timed out" or something similar, it annoys me so much, also i think it is in DFU mode, it looks off, but windows and itunes detects it, and itunes says its in recovery mode, also im in windows vista
