Default RAM upgrade.

I have a compaq laptop that has 512 MB. Beatie Vista hogged just about 99% of that 512 MB for graphics that are not THAT good (in my opinion). The result is that the laptop, which has only been turned on 3 times with a total ON time less than 3 hours, runs slower than the slowest desktop ridden with spyware, adware and viruses (I should know since I'm the proud owner ^_^). I've been doing some poking around and found out that the speed of the machine depends more on its RAM than its hard drive free space. So I want to increase the memory but not sure how. I don't even kow which memory to buy since there are so many and I don't want to crash my newly purchased machine . So what memory card should I buy? and How do I put it into the laptop?
Lastly, how do I turn off the hogging Vista graphic. I read an article in which Microsoft said that you can turn off that feature of Vista so that your memory would be a bit freer but I couldn't find the instructions on how to do it. Thanks

For Windows VISTA, you need at least 1GB of RAM (1024MB).

I will get you the link for the spyware program to destroy the spyware (free).

RAM is crucial for VISTA. It allows more programs to run simultaneously... and VISTA runs MANY things at the same time.

Do you have the specific laptop model? Then we can get you the ram that you need. Our "computer hardware" section has a lot of RAM upgrades

Default RAM upgrade

Not for me. My laptop is very similar to yours, with old video card with only 64mb ram. I upgraded my main memory from 512mb to 1gb, and saw not much difference in more demanding games.

If you have a video card with less than 128mb ram, main ram memory upgrade dont seem to do much, at least for me.
