I have comcast right now, but i want to get HD Channel like Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC. is there a way to get HD Channel with out paying $12.95 for that HD Box? I have a 46" 1080P Sharp got it in May, so what will i need to watch HD Channel. Right now i have 100+ channel from comcast, but they are not in HD.

Update: when i unplug my comcast box...and just plug in the cable, i turn to channel 7.1 and i get NBC in 1080i, but it doesn't seem to be HD...then i turn to 25.1 Fox and is in720P i still don't fell the HD..at all

Don't you have to get HD turned on by the carrier? Did you ask Comcast about getting you HD channels?

Well according to the FCC, whatever channel you get in SD, If they have a HD Channel they can't charge you any money. But in order to get the HD Channel like , AMC, HGTV ext. you have to get a HD BOX from comcast, if i don't use the box i only get HD Channel like FOX, CBS, NBC, and CW. I have the comcast trp. play....Is there any way to get my other HD Channel from comcast with out getting the HD BOX? I ask them all they say is that i have to get a HD BOX.

I would get the Comcast HD box especially if you have HD movie channels & HD on-demand available in your area. If you want it free, you need to get a nice antenna and just get what is available over the air. I don't really think what you get from Comcast HD (720P or 1080i) is any better quality than what is available over the air (720P or 1080i), might be worse due to Comcast's high compression. Also I hear the HD on dish network looks much better, as it is up to 1080P. It basically comes down to quality(antenna/dish) vs quantity (Comcast).

I have the Comcast HD box and it's totally worth the $10 a month I pay. Channels look so much better. The only way around paying Comcast the monthly payment is buying an HD box to own yourself (these can be found on Amazon.com or anywhere that sells electronics). If you plan on watching HD for a long time, that may end up being a smarter route. But as far as being able to see the extended and premium channels for free, it's not going to happen. Get the box.

I am so tired of Comcast Cable out here. We all know that it is all going the way of digital cable, I pay Comcast for digital cable about 60.00 a month. Now just last week my dvr will not pick up all the channels it tells me no signal. So comcast tech comes out and tells me that they have done away with those channels and the only way to record them is to get another adaptor, but I would not be able to record one show and watch another channel. WTF
I am so done with Comcast, Im gettin a dish next month
