Here's a simple little "trick" for DirecTV customers with HD service that want the HD Extra Pack at no charge (savings of $4.99/month):
Login to your DirecTV account online and click on “My Programming” on the left “My Account” panel
Scroll down and look for the “HD Extra Pack”
If it is listed, click “Remove.” If it is not listed then you are most likely not subscribed to it, so please skip down to step 8.
You will be asked to confirm the removal
Logout of your account and clear your browser’s cookies (just to be on the safe side)
Wait about 5-10 minutes to allow the pack to be fully deactivated and off of your account
Log back into your DirecTV account online and check to verify that the “HD Extra Pack” no longer exists under your current programming lineup
At the top of the page under “Premiums” choose “HD Extra Pack”
You should see the “Free for 3 Months” promotion and there should be an “Activate Now” button
Click it and confirm
Sit back and enjoy your free HD Extra channels!
