Top Black Friday Picks As Of 11-18-2009 - What’s Worth Getting!
Wednesday, November 18th, 2009Below I, Albert, have compiled what I think are “worthy” Black Friday picks. I also explain why I think it’s worth standing in line, other than the satisfaction of being in line for Black Friday! More to come NEXT week right before, but this should be a great start.
1. Best Buy (Opens 5AM Friday) – Canon Vixia HD HF20 Camcorder $499.99
The regular price at Best Buy $799.99. Next lowest price on Google Product Search is $625 for a new unit. Amazon sells for $625 currently. It is worth standing in line to save $134.
2. Staples (Opens 6AM Friday) – eMachines 21.5” Widescreen LCD Monitor $89.99 Early Bird
2 years ago, the Westinghouse 22” at Best Buy was $199.99. Now monitors are $89.99 for Black Friday. The cheapest we’ve seen a 21.5” LCD is about $130 at Staples, with a potential $25 coupon that you have to purchase.
3. Wal-mart (Opens 5AM Friday) – Nintendo DS Lite - $98
The Nintendo DS Lite is going to be a popular product this Christmas for children. List price is $129.99, and after research on google products and Amazon, the next lowest is at least $126.
4. Old Navy (Opens 3AM Friday) – Free Lego Rockband Video Game with $20 Purchase (Retail Value of $44) + Free Rock Band Guitar with Rock Band Purchase
Yes, Old Navy is going to be selling video games. They’re not only selling Old Navy Clothing now. They’re going to let people play Rock Band on Black Friday at the stores for families, and offer the free Lego Rockband game for any $20 purchase. Thus, if you buy the Rock Band game, you get the free Lego Rockband Game and the free guitar if you’re lucky to be early enough.
5. Toys R Us (Opens Midnight Thursday) – Free $50 Gift Card with Apple iTouch 8GB $199.99
The iTouch is going to be a popular item this Christmas and Toys R Us knows it. While the normal retail price on the iTouch 8GB is $199.99, they’re throwing in the $50 gift card to entice people to go to the store. For those with children and are already intending to buy an iTouch, the $50 could make a difference when holiday shopping for toys.
6. Best Buy (Opens 5AM Friday) – Garmin Nuvi 205w $99.99 Doorbuster
The Garmin Nuvi 205w is a pretty decent deal for $99.99, especially for those who need a GPS. While Best Buy states that you save $100, it’s because their normal retail price is $199.99. However, credible online sources like Amazon are selling for $139.
7. Best Buy (Opens 5AM Friday) – 46” Class 1080P 120Hz LED HDTV $1599.99 Doorbuster
This 46” HDTV utilizes LED technology. LED is in the same family as the LCD TV family. What people don’t realize is that the display screen on the LED HDTV is the same liquid as the screen of the LCD. LED is newer and it utilizes more recent backlighting techniques that may improve the quality of picture immensely. This is going to be a sought after item this Black Friday, even though the price has shown up before. They’re dropping the price again to entice consumers to buy it.
8. Staples (Opens 6AM Friday) – Seagate 1TB External Desktop Hard Drive $69.99
This is a price for a 1TB External Hard Drive. Typical retail price is $129.99. Online it typically costs $99.99 when on sale. This is going to be a hot item this year as a gift because of the size of the hard drive, the portability, and the price.
9. Radio Shack (Opens 10AM *Thursday* - Most Stores) – XBOX360 Elite System + Legos Batman and Pure $299.99 with $60 Back by Mail through Prepaid Card
This will be a wanted item. This is a great price, and a lot of people will be buying this because of the recent Microsoft banning all of the modified XBOX360s. All other retailers are selling this bundle for $300, but the $60 prepaid mail-in rebate makes it a good deal. Lowest we’ve seen this is for $270 from Dell, which expired 11/4/09.
10. Home Depot (Opens 6AM Friday) - Black & Decker Ready Wrench - $15.88
Lowest price on Google Products is $29.99, even from Amazon. Home Depot usually doesn’t have a line, so it’s more appealing to those who don’t want to wait in freezing weather.
11. Wal-Mart (Opens at 5AM Friday) – DVDs for $2-$5 with great titles
Wal-mart will be having tons of $2-$5 DVDs. They’re actually very good titles. Tons of bargain shoppers will be buying them as stocking stuffers and cheaper alternatives for Holiday gifts.
The Worst Black Friday Deal That Has People Ranting
Best Buy – 4’ Monster Cable 700 Series HDMI Cable $49.99
Note
Please note that these deals are only as of 11-17-09. There is still nearly 2 weeks before Black Friday, and there may be “secret” deals that are revealed right before Black Friday. Many retailers are doing “Early” Black Friday sales to try to get consumers to spend prior to Black Friday. I will keep you informed of the updates, but I have a strong feeling that there will be better deals coming out in the next week or two.
