Amazon Video Game Trade-In - Make Money from Amazon!

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

(If you like this post, please Digg it! http://digg.com/gaming_news/How_To_Make_Money_Off_Amazon_And_Help_Best_Buy )
Begins 4/26/09 (Sunday).
1. Best Buy will be selling Xbox 360/PS3 games for $9.99
2. A few of the games have a higher trade-in value at Amazon.
3. You can buy the games new from Best Buy, then send them to Amazon as used trade-ins for profit.
4. Amazon is running a $10 bonus to be used in Amazon Game Stores for any 3 trade-ins (Exp. 5/2/09). At least $10 of the profit must be used in the game store, the rest of the profit will be added to an Amazon gift card if you send in games purchased from Best Buy. Some may not like the gift card idea, or having to use the extra $10 in the game store. Works out well for those who buy games from them though. (Thanks Franchise1)

*Only Pure (Xbox360/PS3), Infinite Discovery (Xbox360) and Soul Calibur IV (PS3) have higher trade-values than the cost at Best Buy.*
If you can’t find one of these titles and need a filler for the 3 game trade-in bonus, the best 2 I could find were Soul Calibur (Xbox360) and Bolt (Xbox360).

As of 4/23/09, Amazon trade-in value for:

Pure = $19.50 (Xbox 360) / $17.50 (PS3)
Soul Calibur 4 = $10.75 (Xbox 360 -no profit after tax, possible filler) / $13.00 (PS3)
Infinite Discovery = $14.00 (Xbox 360 only)
Disney’s Bolt(Xbox360) = $7.50 (possible filler for $10 bonus)

*Amazon may change their trade-in value soon, so you may want to print your trade-in tickets right now to get the current trade-in values! You have up to 7 days to mail the games, so you could print the ticket now, buy the games starting Sunday, then mail. Printing the ticket now also qualifies you for the $10 bonus.*
If you have the overhead and want to get in on the deal ahead of time, you can go and purchase the games now, print the trade-in ticket for those items, then get them price adjusted at Best Buy starting Sunday before mailing.

You can search for the current trade-in prices. There may be other fillers out there. Here is the link to the trade-in info.
Link to the $10 bonus details. (1 per household)

I do not see anywhere where it states you cannot trade in 3 of the same title. I did not notice a maximum amount of titles to send either, so you may be able to send 10+ copies of one game and make profit.

There are a few 3 (or more) combinations that can be put together to make a profit while getting in on the $10 bonus . The maximum profit available on 3 games would be to buy 3 copies of Pure for Xbox 360 @ $9.99 each. If you send 6 copies, you would not be eligible for another $10,bonus GC, but you would still be able to make $9.50 (minus tax) profit on each additional copy.

Cost at Best Buy (Starting 4/26/09)
Pure (Xbox360) = 3 x $9.99 + tax(varies) = less than $33.00 for most

Amazon Trade-In Value
Pure (Xbox360) = 3 x $19.50 = 58.50
+
3 Game Amazon Trade-In Promo = $10.00

($58.50 - 33.00 = $25.50 profit (Amazon GC) + $10 (Amazon GC - game store only)
Totals = $35.50 profit in Amazon gift cards.

Another combo, in case you worry about sending 3 copies of the same game.

Cost at Best Buy (Starting 4/26/09)
(Pure (Xbox360) = $9.99) + (Soul Calibur IV(PS3) = $9.99) + (Infinite Discovery(Xbox360) = $9.99) + tax =Total of Less than $33.00 for most.

Amazon Trade-In Value
(Pure (Xbox 360) = $19.50) + (Soul Calibur 4(PS3) $13.00) + (Infinite Discovery(Xbox360) = $14.00 = Total Trade-In Value of $46.50

(46.50 - 33.00 = $13.50 (Amazon GC) + $10.00 (Amazon GC - game store only)
Total Profit in Amazon Gift Cards = $23.50

Amazon MP3s. Cheap. Some Even Free.

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Amazon is obviously trying to compete in the MP3 market like iTunes. Why? The markups are huge for the audio industry. Plus, it’s easy to implement once you get the licenses. As a result, you can start downloading MP3s from Amazon for low costs, competitive with iTunes at $1/song.

Amazon also offers quote a few FREE songs as well - don’t expect anything outrageous, but heck it’s free. Get a CDR, burn it, and let ‘em rip in the car.

I must admit that Amazon Prime kicks butt. I had it for a trial period for one month, and everything I ordered was FREE 2 day shipping. I kept buying everything that was on sale, even if it were only $0.99. FREE shipping. Now Amazon has brought back not only that promotion, but is also offering $10 Off Your Next Order as well.
If you need overnight shipping, it’s only $3.99 more with Prime. Now that is one sweet deal.

Great Pet Beds on Sale at Amazon

Friday, June 27th, 2008

You wouldn’t think that Amazon sells pet beds - but they do… and very cheap as well. There are many that are around $10 or so, and with Amazon, you get free shipping at $25+. Might make sense to purchase a few beds to bump up the price above $25, as shipping costs are quite costly (like $5-8).

Food On Amazon Is Cheaper Than The Supermarket

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Amazon has been selling food for quite a while now… with very good prices. If you don’t really feel like driving to the supermarket to purchase goods, let alone the gas prices right now, then shopping on Amazon for munchies might be a better solution. It’s actually cheaper than local grocery stores. For example,

Amazon has a promotion: Buy any two packs of chips from any of the eligible brands (can mix and match) you get a $15 discount with code. You end up with ~120 bags of chips for ~$35 ($0.29 per bag). The are the large single serve bags that sell for about $0.99 at your typical convenience store. Must use code CHIPDSCT at checkout to get $15 off. Free shipping too, so save your gas.

Brands: Cheetos | Doritos | Fritos | Grandma’s | Lay’s | Munchos | Ruffles | Sunchips | Miss Vickies

Amazon Beats iTunes in MP3 Download Price

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

Amazon is trying to compete against iTunes in a way - they offer album downloads now. The albums cost significantly less than buying song by song at iTunes. For example:

Amazon has Elton John: Rocket Man - Number Ones full album download for $2.
The following Tunes are all available in the download:
- Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
- Benny & The Jets
- Daniel
- Crocodile Rock
- Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
- Philadelphia Freedom
- Island Girl
- Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
- Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word
- Sacrifice
- Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
- Can You Feel The Love Tonight
- Your Song
- Tiny Dancer
- Rocket Man
- Candle In The Wind
- Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting
If you were to buy each individual song, it’d run you over $10. Seems like Amazon is going to slowly penetrate the online music space. Watch out Apple!

Happy Friday the 13th - Spooky Sales? Not Spooky, But Good Sales.

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Happy Friday the 13th. Spooky. While there are no deadly or scary sales today, there are some great discounts that I am finding on the web. I don’t know where this holiday is derived from, so I wiki’ed it:

Both the number thirteen and Friday have been considered unlucky:

  • In numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness, as reflected in the twelve months of the year, twelve recognized signs of the zodiac, the twelve tribes of Israel, the twelve Apostles of Jesus, etc., whereas the number thirteen was considered irregular, transgressing this completeness.[2] There is also a superstition, thought by some to derive from the Last Supper, that having thirteen people seated at a table will result in the death of one of the diners.
  • Friday, as the day on which Jesus Christ was crucified, has been viewed both positively and negatively among Christians. The actual day of Crucifixion was the 14th day of Nisan in the Hebrew Lunar calendar which does not correspond to “Friday” in the solar calendar of Rome. The 15th day of Nissan (beginning at Sundown) is celebration of Passover.

Walgreens has a kick butt coupon that basically gives you 25% off. It is a great time to load up on house toiletries and munchies for $5 off $20. Valid today only.

Walgreens offers $5 off $20 or more in-store using this Printable Coupon. The coupon may be used on Friday, June 13 only. Store Locator. Some exclusions apply, see coupon for details.

Another worthy sale of being posted is for shorts. While it’s a bit late to get them in time for Father’s Day, shorts for $12 are a steal. If you get more pairs to get the total over $25, you get FREE shipping. No tax in most states. Can’t beat that! Buying shorts at a retail B&M is going to run you $25-$40 each!
Amazon has many Lee Dungaree Men’s Shorts on Sale for $11.99 Each. Free ship if you order $25+ (3 pairs). Retail on these is $40!

- Lee Dungaree Men’s Wyoming Short
- Lee Dungaree Men’s Huntington Short
