Black Friday 2010: Top 5 Picks Worth Waiting For

November 23rd, 2010

1. Westinghouse 40″ 60Hz 1080P LCD HDTV at Target

1. Target on Black Friday is going to have Westinghouse 40″ 60HZ 1080P LCD HDTV - $298.00 *. It’s a doorbuster. Here’s a tip: (Yes, you can buy this TV before black Friday a price adjustment from Friday 11/26 - Saturday 11/27. Go to the customer service desk and ask them to look up the DPCI: 008-09-0740 if they have it in stock ask them to bring one up for you. Just bring your receipt into ANY Target during the sale dates to get your adjustment. The manager may say no, but corporate has confirmed along with customer service agents for the price adjustment. Keep the receipt. Do it at your own risk - outcomes may vary depending on manager. You might piss off a lot of your friends too who waited in line for it.)

This one is going to be a BIG seller, so get ready.

2. Emerson 32″ LC320EM1 720P 60Hz LCD HDTV at WalMart

Black Friday Price: $198

Price comparison (lowest): $267

2. Walmart is going to have the Emerson 32″ LC320EM1 720P 60Hz LCD HDTV for just $198. Going to be a very sweet deal. 2500:1 dynamic contrast ratio, HD 1366×768 Resolution. Doing a price comparison search shows that the price is $267 normally. Is it worth it for you to stand in line to save nearly $100? I would think so! Great bragging rights.

3. eMachines Black 15.6″ eME528-2325 Laptop PC with Intel Celeron 900 Processor & Windows 7 Home Premium at Walmart

Walmart is going to have this sweet eMachine 15.6″ Laptop. It’s got 2GB of RAM, enough to run many applications at once, a 250GB HD for storing all your videos, and Windows 7. Just $198. It’s got a Celeron processor, which ain’t the best, but it’s enough for all the fundamentals. HDMI video out is a great perk.

Remember that Walmart and Best Buy are the craziest Black Friday audiences, from my experience. People have gotten hurt, and I’ve personally gotten pressed against the wall before, so be safe and get ready for one hell of a ride!

4. Magellan RoadMate 3045 4.7″ GPS $99.99 at Office Depot (Others: $167+)

Office Depot has a great GPS on sale for $99.99 on Black Friday. They speak the street names and directions, includes AAA Roadside Assistance, AAA TourBook Guide, and more. When using Price Comparison searches, most are selling for $167 or more. This is going to be a faster seller for the Holiday Season!

5. Prodigy Hudson 5-pc. Luggage Set $37.99 at Kohls

Kohls is going to have a 5-piece luggage set for just $37.99. Typically $99.99 on sale on their site (they state that it is regularly $199.99, however). It’s a pretty decent set for travel, and a decent chunk of savings. It features plenty of space, expandable 27″ upright, wheeled duffel bag and tote, and smaller toiletry kit.

Toyota Versus GM - 0% APR + Perks

March 5th, 2010

Recently, there has been a lot of discussion about Toyota and their acceleration flaws. Toyota’s competitors are definitely taking advantage of their mechanical problems, and Toyota is trying to maintain their customers. Toyota and GM are now competing head to head to try to grasp new business in the next few months:

- GM is offering 0% APR for 60 months on most of their 2010 Vehicles. They’re trying to steal away

- Toyota has 0-percent APR financing offered for up to 60 months on 2010 Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, Matrix, RAV4, Tundra and Yaris models for qualifying buyers. Toyota U.S. is also offering complimentary, two-year “premium maintenance programs” for customers who purchase or lease a new vehicle, and provide proof of a Toyota, Lexus or Scion vehicle already registered “with applicable conditions.”

Only 14% of Toyota owners are stating that the vehicle is unsafe and is not standing behind the company, based on a survey of over 2,000 Toyota drivers. The rest still support the company. Toyota has tremendously increased Television advertising to maintain their brand.

Cyber Monday 2009 5 Safety Tips - Read Before You Buy!

November 26th, 2009

Happy Thanksgiving! I would like to personally thank you all for your support, as we cannot run this webpage without your support, tips, and deals.

Cyber Monday 2009 has arrived. It is on MONDAY, 11/30/2009. Get ready with these safety tips and don’t be too trigger happy until you have read this. The internet is a very risky space if you don’t keep your eyes open, so let me teach you a few things:

1. Use a virtual credit card

Millions suffer credit card fraud with 1/5 of these being through the internet. Many companies like Citi, Discover, Paypal, and more offer virtual credit cards. Basically, you utilize their software and can create a “virtual credit card number” whenever you need to make a purchase. You can put limits on the maximum, the expiration date, and more. Only you and your bank will have access to this information. The merchant won’t get to see your number. Because it’s so short term, it’s not as valuable to hackers because they cannot continually make purchases.

2. Buy from Credible Sources

You notice how CheapCheapCheap.com only posts deals from credible sources? We do due diligence on merchants through various methods. We research their Better Business Bureau information, their history, their ratings from various buyers before, and their security. Before buying from an internet company, you should always do your research. Look for symbols such as:

BBBOnlineTRUSTe

Saving a few bucks from a riskier company may not be worth the hassle of dealing with your credit card company. Be assured that we at CheapCheapCheap.com only post deals from reputable merchants with very amazing track records.

3. Make Sure The Webpage Uses Data Encryption

You should always check to see if the webpage is secure through data encryption by looking for a padlock, or for an “s” after the “http” so it reads “https://”.

image

Basically http”s” means that it has security encryption and is a secure HTTP.

4. Check Their Return/Refund Policies Before You Go Trigger Happy

Before you buy something just because the deal is about to expire, you better check the return/refund policy. Some sites require you to pay shipping back and a restocking fee. Some may not even offer a refund if it’s a sold “as-is” item that’s refurbished. While most reputable merchants have great return policies, some don’t. Make sure you know what you get yourself into before constantly buying.

If the item is refurbished, you should be aware that the return policies can be different. Some items may be sold as-is, or with a shorter warranty window because it is being liquidated at a cheaper price.

5. CHECK THE URL YOU ARE BUYING FROM!!!

I cannot stress this enough. You get a ton of fake PayPal emails requesting for you to update your information. If you ever actually click through it, you may see something like “http://security.paypal.login111.com.” LOOK AT the URL right before the “.com” because that tells you the domain. They create fake subdomains like the one above, but it actually leads to the site “login111.com.” As a result, you think the page looks legitimate and looks exactly like the normal Paypal.com, but it isn’t. Even the links on the website actually lead to paypal.com, except for the main “submit” button that sends all your personal information to the hacker.

I’ve seen a ton of people get ripped off because of this and have identity fraud. If it’s one thing you take away from this, please check the URL that you’re buying from.

Top 5 Black Friday Television Deals

November 23rd, 2009

Televisions are going to be a big part of Black Friday this year as technology continues to change. Thus, get ready! Most of the doorbusters are televisions. Below are 5 of the most sought after Televisions this Black Friday. Get pumped!

When most people buy a television, they may not fully understand what they’re buying.  Some tips!

1080P versus 720P: If you’re going to be watching Blu-Ray DVDs, you want 1080P. Basically the 720P is 1 million pixels, and the 1080P is  2 million pixels; this is a huge difference in detail. 1080P is basically the current best you can get on the market right now. You’ll see an enormous different if you’re playing Blu-Ray DVDs.

Contrast RatioContrast is the ratio between the white and black parts in an image. The larger the contrast ratio of a display device, the greater is the difference between the brightest whites and the darkest blacks a video display or projector can show. A contrast rating of say 300:1 would imply that the luminance for black level is 300 times darker than the white. A higher contrast ratio means that the device has greater ability to display black as ‘black’ instead of dark gray. This also means that a home theater projector with a contrast ratio rating of 10,000:1 is more capable of showing dark subject matter than one with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. The room must be completely dark in order to truly measure the difference.

1. Wal-mart - Sony Bravia 46″ KDL46S504 LCD 1080P HDTV - $798.00 * (Doors open at 5AM)

Price comparison: Crutchfield.com has it for $1199.99

The Sony Bravia KDL46S504 LCD 1080P HDTV is going to be a hot pick this year - especially because it’s 1080P and 46″ in size. If you look at a competitor’s price, Crutchfield has it for $1200. It’s a $400 difference, which is pretty substantial. As a 1080P, it’ll play all of your latest Blu-Ray DVDs with extreme clarity. It’s got a great dynamic contrast ratio, and HDMI inputs for your Blu-Ray DVD player, XBOX360 consoles, and more!

Specifications:

  • 46″ screen (measured diagonally)

2. Best Buy – 46” Class 1080P 120Hz LED HDTV $1599.99 Doorbuster - (Doors open at 5AM Friday)

MSRP Price $2599.99; however, we have seen it for $1599.99 before months back.

This 46” HDTV utilizes LED technology. LED is in the same family as the LCD TV family. What people don’t realize is that the display screen on the LED HDTV is the same liquid as the screen of the LCD. LED is newer and it utilizes more recent backlighting techniques that may improve the quality of picture immensely. This is going to be a sought after item this Black Friday, even though the price has shown up before. They’re dropping the price again to entice consumers to buy it.

3. Target - Westinghouse 32″ LCD HDTV $246.00 - (Doors open at 5AM)

This will be a hot ticket item because of the price. While it’s a 720P, it’s enough to watch movies and play video games; however, you’ll notice significant differences from 1080P. For the price of $246, you can’t beat it. It still comes with a pair of HDMI plugs - vital for your DVD Player + Video Game consoles. Westinghouse is a decent vendor - I’m personally using the Westinghouse 22″ LCD monitor, and we have a 32″ LCD TV back at home. Surely it’s not the best of the best, but it’s very acceptable.

4. Wal-mart - Emerson 32″ LC320EMFX LCD 720P HDTV $248.00 * (Doors open at 5AM)

The price on this TV is cheap and competes against Target’s Westinghouse above. After doing some research, we discovered that the Emerson LC320EMFX LCD HDTV features a 2500:1 contrast ratio for rich blacks, bright whites and a vivid color spectrum and 1366 x 768 Resolution. Other features include multiple inputs for connecting to media, PC Input, 3 HDMI Inputs, Component/S-Video Input, Built-in Digital Tuner, Remote control and also receives current and digital broadcast signals.

However, for this price, you’re getting what you pay for. Westinghouse is a more popular brand and is more trusted among the TV world, so I would highly recommend getting deal #3 if you have the choice between these two.

5. Sharp 42″ 1080p LCD HDTV LC42SB45UT - $599.00

Black Friday 2009 Top 5 Netbook & Laptop Deals (And 1 Realllly Bad One)!

November 21st, 2009

Since everybody is raving about Netbooks this year, I am going to discuss the top 5 laptop picks. I personally own the Acer Aspire Netbook, and it rocks with Chrome. I carry it everywhere - airplane, car, etc. and it has over FIVE hours of battery life. Perfect for my plane ride back from CA to MA.

Be cautioned, however. They are going to be a HOT item this year - plan wisely and use my safety tips below to survive! I am going to outline the TOP 5 Laptop/Netbook Deals, and then list all of them.

TOP LAPTOP DEALS

1. Wal-mart - eMachines eME627 Laptop Computer - $198 (Doors open @ 5AM)

This is going to be the most sought after laptop this Black Friday. For $198… it’s as cheap, if not cheaper than the netbooks. It comes with an AMD processor, Windows 7 (the newest operating system), 2GB RAM, 160GB Hard Drive, DVD Burner, and a 15.6″ LCD Screen. It’s a pretty pumped laptop with the latest operating system. My Dad personally has an eMachine desktop from a great sale back in the day at CompUSA and it’s still running strong - great reliability. Microcenter sells it for MSRP $379.99, on sale for $299.99. Thus, it’s a $101 savings.

  • AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor TF-20
  • 2GB DDR2-667 RAM
  • 160GB 5,400RPM Hard Drive
  • 8x SuperMulti Double Layer DVD±RW Drive
  • 5-in-1 Digital Media Card Reader
  • ATI Radeon(tm) HD 3200
  • 10/100 Network
  • 802.11b/g Wi-Fi CERTIFIED®
  • 15.6″ HD Widescreen XGA High-Brightness Display
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
  • Black
2. Wal-mart - HP G71-329wm Laptop Computer (PUMPED) for $398 - (Doors open @ 5AM)
Yes, Wal-mart has another great deal on a laptop. This laptop is PUMPED. From our research, it shows that it should be a Core2Duo Processor; however, it says Celeron on the ad. Must be a misprint. However, it’s one loaded system with 4GB RAM (lets you run lots of programs at once), a 320GB HD, DVD Burner, 17.3″ HD LED Display (Great for movies!!), and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit. It’s a great entertainment system that should be able to handle most things you throw at it. It weighs roughly 6.7 pounds, so take that into consideration if you travel a lot.

TOP BLACK FRIDAY NETBOOK DEALS

3. Office Depot - Acer Aspire One $199.99 (Doors open @ 6AM)

odacer

* Acer AOD250-1165
* 10.1″ Blue, 10″x7″, 2.2 lbs, 1024×600
* Mobile Intel 945GSE Express Chipset
* Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
* Multi-in-1 Digital Media Card Reader
* Integrated Crystal Eye Webcam and two built-in stereo speakers
* Intel Atom Processor N270 (1.60GHz, 533MHz FSB, 512KB L2 cache)
* 1024MB DDR2 Memory
* 160GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive
* 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi Certified
* 10.1″ WSVGA Acer CrystalBrite LED Display
* Windows XP Home with Service Pack 3
* 3-cell Li-ion Battery (about 3-4 hours)

I personally have this laptop, but with a 6-cell battery. The 3 cell battery states 3-4 hours, but it roughly lasts for 2.5 hours. My 6-cell battery lasts for about 4-5 hours. When watching movies and using wifi, it lasts about 3 hours. If you’re wifi is off on a plane and you’re doing just documents, it can last up to 5-6 hours (amazing). This laptop is designed for internet browsing, light gaming (like very old school games - will NOT work with Left 4 Dead 2), and doing officework. An absolute must for a traveler! The keyboard is very small, so be cautioned.

Read reviews at Amazon - it sells for about $300 there.

4. Best Buy - Compaq Mini Netbook with Intel Atom Processor (Doors open @ 5AM)

Untitled-5

* Intel Atom Processor
* 160GB Hard Drive
* 1GB of RAM

While Best Buy does not reveal many deals on this laptop, it should be very comparable to the one they have listed on their site with these specifications here. The laptop MSRP (manufacturing suggested retail price) is $349.99. Compaq is a great brand. Bought our first Compaq computer with a 486 processor ages ago.

5. Radio Shack - Acer 11.6″ Netbook with 2GB RAM and 250GB Hard Drive (Opens @ 5:30AM Friday)

This one is an upgrade of netbook 1 above. While it’s the same brand and it’s a bit more expensive, it’s definitely got more goodies like an 11.6″ LCD screen rather than the other 10.6″ ones. It comes with 2GB of RAM instead of 1GB (RAM makes a HUGE difference if you’re running multiple applications). In addition, it comes with Windows Vista Home Basic. To be honest, Vista stinks (in my opinion) compared to XP - it’s more user friendly, but it really slows things down. Fortunately, it has 2GB of RAM. You CANNOT run Vista without 2GB of RAM. It states “up to 4 hour battery life,” so I’m pretty sure it’s a 3-cell battery. Regularly $349.99, so you save $100.

WORST NETBOOK DEAL

KMart Delstar 7″ Wireless Netbook with Windows CE - $119.99 (Doors open @ 6AM)

This is one interesting netbook - it sucks. Just be honest here because Window CE, the operating system, is designed for mobile phones. Imagine buying a laptop and having to use a mobile phone interface. It’s horrendous. I would avoid this netbook at all costs - not even worth $100.

Top Black Friday Picks As Of 11-18-2009 - What’s Worth Getting!

November 18th, 2009

Below I, Albert, have compiled what I think are “worthy” Black Friday picks. I also explain why I think it’s worth standing in line, other than the satisfaction of being in line for Black Friday! More to come NEXT week right before, but this should be a great start.

1. Best Buy (Opens 5AM Friday) – Canon Vixia HD HF20 Camcorder $499.99

The regular price at Best Buy $799.99. Next lowest price on Google Product Search is $625 for a new unit. Amazon sells for $625 currently. It is worth standing in line to save $134.

2. Staples (Opens 6AM Friday) – eMachines 21.5” Widescreen LCD Monitor $89.99 Early Bird

2 years ago, the Westinghouse 22” at Best Buy was $199.99. Now monitors are $89.99 for Black Friday. The cheapest we’ve seen a 21.5” LCD is about $130 at Staples, with a potential $25 coupon that you have to purchase.

3. Wal-mart (Opens 5AM Friday) – Nintendo DS Lite - $98

The Nintendo DS Lite is going to be a popular product this Christmas for children. List price is $129.99, and after research on google products and Amazon, the next lowest is at least $126.

4. Old Navy (Opens 3AM Friday) – Free Lego Rockband Video Game with $20 Purchase (Retail Value of $44) + Free Rock Band Guitar with Rock Band Purchase

Yes, Old Navy is going to be selling video games. They’re not only selling Old Navy Clothing now. They’re going to let people play Rock Band on Black Friday at the stores for families, and offer the free Lego Rockband game for any $20 purchase. Thus, if you buy the Rock Band game, you get the free Lego Rockband Game and the free guitar if you’re lucky to be early enough.

5. Toys R Us (Opens Midnight Thursday) – Free $50 Gift Card with Apple iTouch 8GB $199.99

The iTouch is going to be a popular item this Christmas and Toys R Us knows it. While the normal retail price on the iTouch 8GB is $199.99, they’re throwing in the $50 gift card to entice people to go to the store. For those with children and are already intending to buy an iTouch, the $50 could make a difference when holiday shopping for toys.

6. Best Buy (Opens 5AM Friday) – Garmin Nuvi 205w $99.99 Doorbuster

The Garmin Nuvi 205w is a pretty decent deal for $99.99, especially for those who need a GPS. While Best Buy states that you save $100, it’s because their normal retail price is $199.99. However, credible online sources like Amazon are selling for $139.

7. Best Buy (Opens 5AM Friday) – 46” Class 1080P 120Hz LED HDTV $1599.99 Doorbuster

8. Staples (Opens 6AM Friday) – Seagate 1TB External Desktop Hard Drive $69.99

This is a price for a 1TB External Hard Drive. Typical retail price is $129.99. Online it typically costs $99.99 when on sale. This is going to be a hot item this year as a gift because of the size of the hard drive, the portability, and the price.

9. Radio Shack (Opens 10AM *Thursday* - Most Stores) – XBOX360 Elite System + Legos Batman and Pure $299.99 with $60 Back by Mail through Prepaid Card

This will be a wanted item. This is a great price, and a lot of people will be buying this because of the recent Microsoft banning all of the modified XBOX360s. All other retailers are selling this bundle for $300, but the $60 prepaid mail-in rebate makes it a good deal. Lowest we’ve seen this is for $270 from Dell, which expired 11/4/09.

10. Home Depot (Opens 6AM Friday) - Black & Decker Ready Wrench - $15.88

Lowest price on Google Products is $29.99, even from Amazon. Home Depot usually doesn’t have a line, so it’s more appealing to those who don’t want to wait in freezing weather.

11. Wal-Mart (Opens at 5AM Friday) – DVDs for $2-$5 with great titles

Wal-mart will be having tons of $2-$5 DVDs. They’re actually very good titles. Tons of bargain shoppers will be buying them as stocking stuffers and cheaper alternatives for Holiday gifts.

The Worst Black Friday Deal That Has People Ranting

Best Buy – 4’ Monster Cable 700 Series HDMI Cable $49.99

Note

Please note that these deals are only as of 11-17-09. There is still nearly 2 weeks before Black Friday, and there may be “secret” deals that are revealed right before Black Friday. Many retailers are doing “Early” Black Friday sales to try to get consumers to spend prior to Black Friday. I will keep you informed of the updates, but I have a strong feeling that there will be better deals coming out in the next week or two.

Black Friday 2009 “6 Safety Tips To Stay Alive”

November 13th, 2009

Black Friday 2009 “6 Safety Tips To Stay Alive”

How to stay alive on Black Friday

Don’t bring your kids!

Every year I wait in line for Black Friday specials, somebody always brings their kids to get extra vouchers. It’s very dangerous to bring them unless they’re at least 18 and over 5’ tall. The second those doors open, nobody cares who is in front of them – people will push that crowd until they get in to buy their products. What people don’t get is that the top items are given out as vouchers to prevent people from grabbing. If you want the $249 laptop, you’re most likely going to be given a voucher to pick it up at a separate section far away from the computer section.

Check the weather forecast!

2 years ago outside Best Buy, it was pouring rain. People started getting very sick and only 5% of the people in line had an umbrella. Make sure you check if it’s going to rain/snow so you can prepare for it. If you do bring an umbrella, don’t bring a big one. You might end up injuring others as people smush together.

Don’t bring your full wallet/purse!

Black Friday is a thief’s paradise. People get their items stolen very easily because once those doors open, there is so much pushing and shoving that your body goes numb. You can’t feel when someone pickpockets you. Bring only what is needed – your credit card and keys? If it gets stolen for some reason, you didn’t lose your license, cash, nor your insurance cards.

Fake vouchers!

2 years ago, someone came up to me in Best Buy and said, “I don’t want the laptop anymore. I’ll sell you the voucher for $50.” I looked at it and it looked so real. However, I immediately thought, ‘why would you wait in line for 8 hours and sell this for $50?’ Well, guess what? People create fake vouchers and print it on glossy paper that mimic those of Best Buy after they have seen what they looked like from previous years. Don’t buy vouchers from anybody. There will be people trying to “sell you the voucher they don’t want.”

Avoid bringing tents/chairs!

Every year, people bring tents and chairs. While it’s great for comfort, it’s not very convenient. If you do, you better have your spouse or friends waiting in the car ready to take them from you at least 1 hour before the doors open. This prevents a huge hazard when people all rush.

Know what you want before going!

Know exactly what you’re going for on Black Friday. Check sites like www.cheapcheapcheap.com to find out what all the Black Friday specials are prior to lining up. The better the item, the earlier you’re going to have to arrive. Ask people in front of you if they’re going after the same items. With 10 laptop vouchers, if you’re #11 and all 10 are getting the laptop voucher, good luck. Make sure to communicate with those in line what you want or you may stand there for 8 hours and get nothing. The employees in the front when you walk in ask, “which voucher you want?” Tell them specifically what you need.
